Here is a cultivated list of some of my favourites in a few different categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Maker channels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a list of channels from the maker community, from woodwork to forge work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCiDJtJKMICpb9B1qf7qjEOA\">Tested.com<\/a> &#8211; Adam Savage of Mythbusters fame, along with other tech and geek reviews.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCWizIdwZdmr43zfxlCktmNw\">Alec Steele<\/a> &#8211; Brit now moved to Montana, lots of metal work and some fine detail jewelery.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC4v2tQ8GqP0RbmAzhp4IFkQ\">April Wilkerson<\/a> &#8211; Wood working mainly, including a recent build of a massive shop.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UChWv6Pn_zP0rI6lgGt3MyfA\">AvE<\/a> &#8211; Mad canadian, lots of hints and tips, along with tool tests and teardowns. Plenty of swearing and no holds barred.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCworsKCR-Sx6R6-BnIjS2MA\">Clickspring<\/a> &#8211; Insane amount of detail and precision on this channel, so hypnotic to watch.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCp68_FLety0O-n9QU6phsgw\">Colin Furze<\/a> &#8211; Modern British mad scientist\/inventor. Builds many dangerous contraptions in his workshop.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC6x7GwJxuoABSosgVXDYtTw\">I Like To Make Stuff<\/a> &#8211; Just what it says on the tin. Various DIY home projects and other fun builds.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCiEk4xHBbz0hZNIBBpowdYQ\">Jimmy DiResta<\/a> &#8211; The original Youtube maker, insane skills and brilliant builds.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC5rT7F0PGNuD54rJ9kzgWzw\">Kris Harbour<\/a> &#8211; Lots of sustainable building as he constructs an off grid homestead.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCAL3JXZSzSm8AlZyD3nQdBA\">Primitive Technology<\/a> &#8211;  Goes out into the bush with nothing but a camera and a pair of shorts. There he builds huts, kilns, fires bricks, generally goes back to nature.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Space<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Various channels that give information about space travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC6uKrU_WqJ1R2HMTY3LIx5Q\">Everyday Astronaut<\/a> &#8211; Bought a russian space suit, took some photographs, now a space science informer. Covers all aspects of rocket science and launches.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCxzC4EngIsMrPmbm6Nxvb-A\">Scott Manley<\/a> &#8211; Originally got popular from playing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerbalspaceprogram.com\/\">Kerbal Space Program<\/a>, now does deep dives into rocket theory and reports on space activities.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCeQYemGBA3zkt2WY5dpRxsw\">TMRO<\/a> &#8211; Weekly space news, interviews, generally keeps you up to date with what is going on in space.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCw95T_TgbGHhTml4xZ9yIqg\">The Vintage Space<\/a> &#8211; All about the history of space travel and the people who made it a reality.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Science<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All sorts of science and technology videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCivA7_KLKWo43tFcCkFvydw\">Applied Science<\/a> &#8211; Crosses the line between theory and application, builds various demos of scientific principals.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCvG04Y09q0HExnIjdgaqcDQ\">Because Science<\/a> &#8211; Where geek culture and science meet. How do super powers work? <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCu6mSoMNzHQiBIOCkHUa2Aw\">Cody&#8217;s Lab<\/a> &#8211; Science in the real world. Recovering gold, real life minecraft, taking a bath in mercury.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC726J5A0LLFRxQ0SZqr2mYQ\">Curious Droid<\/a> &#8211; Takes a look at aerospace technology, from past to present into the future.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCMOqf8ab-42UUQIdVoKwjlQ\">Practical Engineering<\/a> &#8211; Applies scientific principles in the real world, with many civil engineering examples.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCR1IuLEqb6UEA_zQ81kwXfg\">Real Engineering<\/a> &#8211; A wide ranging dive into various technologies and the science behind them.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC6107grRI4m0o2-emgoDnAA\">Smarter Every Day<\/a> &#8211; One of the biggest science channels on YouTube, covers topics on anything that takes his fancy, just dives in and figures out how things work.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCSju5G2aFaWMqn-_0YBtq5A\">Standup Maths<\/a> &#8211; Maths problems, number theories, real world applications, all with a comedic style.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCXgNowiGxwwnLeQ7DXTwXPg\">The Science Asylum<\/a> &#8211; A great explainer of complex ideas such as quantum theory, relativity, and other deep physics ideas.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCHnyfMqiRRG1u-2MsSQLbXA\">Veritasium<\/a> &#8211; Covers science, education, and just about anything else he finds interesting.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Electronics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These channels cover restoration, dismantling, and building of electronic projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCtM5z2gkrGRuWd0JQMx76qA\">Big Clive dot com<\/a> &#8211; Strips down various electronics goods, usually cheap chinese imports, to figure out how they work and review them at the same time.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC3bosUr3WlKYm4sBaLs-Adw\">Curious Marc<\/a> &#8211; R2 Builder and old computer restorer. <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC2DjFE7Xf11URZqWBigcVOQ\">EEVBlog<\/a> &#8211; Mad Aussie with lots of knowledge of electronics, does tutorials and reviews of electronic devices.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCUbDcUPed50Y_7KmfCXKohA\">James Bruton<\/a> &#8211; Robot (including R2 and BB8) builder, gives some good overviews of how things work.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Misc<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have to have a misc section, various geeky or fun channels here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCSpFnDQr88xCZ80N-X7t0nQ\">Corridor Crew<\/a> &#8211; Vlog of the team behind <a href=\"https:\/\/www.corridordigital.com\/\">Corridor Digital<\/a>. Some great tutorials on film making and special effects, along with fun games.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCsn6cjffsvyOZCZxvGoJxGg\">Corridor<\/a> &#8211; This is where the Corridor Crew release their finished videos.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCaR-e8ComPih10DqPi3sdWg\">Fact Fiend<\/a> &#8211; No nonsense guy talking about various topics, with many tangents throughout.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCzz4CoEgSgWNs9ZAvRMhW2A\">Fully Charged<\/a> &#8211; All about electrics cars and other renewable energy solutions and projects. Hosted by Robert Llewellyn.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCLD2PrMowyABr5HRrNxpWqg\">Sneaky Zebra<\/a> &#8211; Cosplay videos and a few small features.<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCUK0HBIBWgM2c4vsPhkYY4w\">Slow Mo Guys <\/a>&#8211; They film everything they can in super slow motion, usually at some form of bodily peril. <\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCBa659QWEk1AI4Tg--mrJ2A\">Tom Scott<\/a> &#8211; Linguistics, quiz shows, amazing places, things you may not know. All whilst wearing a red t-shirt (definitely recommend watching Citation Needed on this channel)<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC64UiPJwM_e9AqAd7RiD7JA\">Today I Found Out<\/a> &#8211; A daily video about random facts.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>That should do for now. I tend to find I watch videos from all these channels as soon as a new one is released.
